300 years of Dutch distilling experience creates a world-class vodka

Writer's picture: Nick MosleyNick Mosley

Ketel One vodka is produced by the Nolet Distillery in Schiedam in Zuid Holland. The Nolet Distillery was founded in 1691 by the Nolet family, French Huguenot refugees, and has remained in the Nolet family ever since.

When tenth generation family member Carolus Nolet Snr first envisioned Ketel One Vodka, it was a unique, super premium vodka for the modern palate. The liquor is produced using a combination of traditional and modern distilling techniques. It is made from 100% wheat in copper pot stills, filtered over loose charcoal before resting in tile-lined tanks until ready. The name comes from the designation of the original copper pot still, "Distilleerketel #1." Although made in The Netherlands, Ketel One made its first appearance in 1983 in San Francisco.

The 4Fs – Fragrance, Flavour, Feel and Finish – help to define what makes Ketel One Vodka so unique.

  1. Fragrance. Nosing the aroma of Ketel One, you’ll immediately detect freshness with hints of citrus and honey.

  2. Flavour. Savour the crisp, lively tingle.

  3. Feel. Let the signature silky softness coat your tongue.

  4. Finish. A long finish with subtle flavours reminds you of its quality.

Available as a 40% pure vodka, in recent years both lemon and orange infused vodkas have been aded to the line-up alongside lower alcohol botanical vodkas, making Ketel One not only a great choice for a sipping vodka but also for cocktails.
